Arguments about Color

I have another guest paper this month. This time from my good friend and colleague Daniel Vacanti. Dan has been facilitating lots of domain modeling sessions this past year. This expierence has shown him where there are holes in the literature and the teaching of Peter Coad’s methods. This article is his first attempt to start plugging those holes.

Many times in modeling sessions, I’ve witnessed conversations degrade from a debate about the concepts in a domain into an argument over what color a class on the model should be. Rarely is this type of argument productive (or even correct!). An argument of this nature is really masking something deeper; namely that the model itself could be improved. I think it best to illustrate this point by way of example…
