Sunday night - I'm in Chicago after a quick one day trip home to Seattle to be with my children. I thought I'd post a few closing thoughts from SEPG. Firstly, the final day of the conference had a full agile track. The idea that agile and CMMI don't mix is dead. If you are not implementing an agile CMMI process in 2006 then you are behind the curve. Secondly, total cost of ownership and operation - what I called the real basis for ROI calculation [in Agile Management for Software Engineering], is now the ideal to which CIO's are driving. Hence, CMMI is not enough on its own. It is necessary to bind ITIL with CMMI to drive quality throughout the life span of the system being designed and deployed.
